Hello Art Fiends! Here is a guide to the LA arts and culture scene for this weekend.

Celebrate LA's Hispanic heritage. Olvera Street for those of you who don't know is one of the oldest Mexican settlements in Los Angeles. Enjoy the open market place between historical landmarks. This is a great event if you have kids...or you are a kid at heart.

Cinema & Theatre:

KLUB Presented by The Actors' Gang

This play is said to merge "A chorus line" with "No exit", and makes for and amusing if not dark comedy. I would check it out. The play runs until May 10th so you do have some time. For more information email : info@theactorsgang.com

Col Coa French Film Festival

Art & Gallery:
"Familiar Friends" @ Project : Gallery
Opening Reception April 19th 7-10pm
8545 Washington Blvd.
Los Angeles, Ca 90232
This is show features work by all female artists, which I personally appreciate because I think its rare that women receive recognition in this field. Also art gallery openings are the best kept secret; there are always interesting people to meet, free food and drink, and of course artwork!

Music:

KCRW Presents - Division Day @ The Troubadour
Friday April 18th 8pm

Nikhil Korula Band @ The House of Blues (Sunset)
Monday April 21st 7:30pm
These guys are very similar to Dave Mathew's Band so if you like them check it out. I actually have extra tickets to this so if anyone is interested let me know.

Enjoy your weekend Art Enthusiasts!

Welcome

Hello! Welcome to my newly found art blog site. My goal with this site is to recognize and focus on the cultural arts movements in and around the Los Angeles area. I will preface this by saying that all articles you read here are my own opinions, and as with anything beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I encourage you as a reader to take what I say with a grain of salt. I hope at the very least what can be found here is both interesting and insightful and challenges you to see the world in a different light. I am quite idealistic and truly believe that our desire to create spawns from an innate desire to communicate with one another. All forms of art be it music, dance, theater, film, visual art, or the written word come from a desire we all have within us to share our thoughts and dreams. There is no right or wrong expression, only that which speaks or does not speak to you. Hopefully this site will speak to you and make you think about the world we live in, and the world that you would like to create. Truly thats what art is: you think of something that you would like to see and you create it. Happy Hunting!
